Job Finder Machine

Helping Regional Re-skilling & Redeployment

The Job Finder Machine is an innovative way to discover new careers you may not have previously considered. By inputting your skills the machine will recommend appropriate roles across industries that match your skillset.

This tool looks to identify new, in-demand, roles which are a good match to a user’s core skills, regardless of what job titles they’ve previously had.

About Reed and reed.co.uk

reed.co.uk, the UK’s largest online jobs board, lists thousands of new job opportunities every day from 12,000 recruiters across 42 career sectors and receives 50 million job applications every year.

It is part of the Reed Group, the largest family-run recruitment company in the world. Reed was founded in 1960 by Sir Alec Reed, and is now a global recruitment company, with more than 3,500 employees working in 180 locations around the world.

About the tool

We are encouraging jobseekers to perform a job search using their skills as a base whose industry or role has been permanently or severely impacted by the Covid pandemic.

Typically people search for job titles when looking for roles, based on the jobs they’ve done previously. In situations where a whole industry has few available jobs, this can lead to empty search results.

We reasoned that if we offered people a way to their cross-transferrable skills, we can reduce reliance on Government schemes leading to higher employment and a faster time to employment for jobseekers.
